Tarnkappe Stream Winterwaker

tarnkappe_-_winterwaker

Dutch black metal band Tarnkappe are streaming their entire upcoming Winterwaker album on Soundclound. Featuring members of Kjeld and Kaeck, Winterwaker is one of the Death Metal Underground staff’s favorite releases of the year: Tarnkappe summon back fond memories of early Gorgoroth, Zyklon-B, and Niden Div 187 refined into effective melodic narratives instead of merely another “cool riff” band aping Darkthone in pop punk songs, which is what Fenriz and Nocturno Culto have been doing themselves for well over a decade.

Antifa Attack Police and Shutdown Messe des Morts

hail-satan-not-heil-hitler

Antifascist terrorists attacked the police protecting the Messe des Morts festival in Montreal on Saturday in response to Graveland, Mgła, and Forteresse playing, who the terrorist all accuse of being Neo-Nazis who wanted to violate Montreal’s safe space. The leftist terrorists purchased tickets to the sold out festival on the second-hand market, infiltrated the crowd wearing ski masks, and threw smoke grenades at the entrances. The antifa terrorists attacked the police who were supposed to be protecting the venue, artists, and concertgoers from their planned protest. One of the “protesters” turned terrorists was Alexandre Boulerice, federal MP for the New Democratic Party in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie riding. Antaeus – Condemnation (2016)

antaeus-condemnation
Article contributed to Death Metal Underground by Max Bloodworth.

Prior releases from Antaeus displayed an alien weltschmerz like an outsider looking into the world and finding nothing of value. It had an air of royalty as well as an air of embarrassment in its simplicity. Intuitive destruction of an end-in-itself, the music delivered a perspicacious view of the bleakness embodied in the microcosm and macrocosm, with the nature of man clinging onto its pitiful existence. Ultimately the value of such an inquiry is in the unraveling of itself to the threshold of exhaustion, then being untoward to the world-as-it-is as its conclusion. Such bold statements of violence to humanity and to the self led to its unique logogenesis which thrusted them above most of their peers as a more realized and apt style of music like Von. Antaeus had the face of an outsider in a sea of complacent faces.

Martire – Martire (1991)

martire-martire

As the continent was before Britannic penal colonization, Australian black and death metal scene was and is still mostly an undeveloped desert of unexceptional crossover thrash posturing as “war metal”, blackened cheeseball beer metal, AC/DC clones with unclean vocals, and experimental technical deaf metal/post-hardcore/jazz fusion hybrids. Martire rode forth from obscurity to restore fruit and flower to the wasteland, fertilizing the barren bush wielding fire and sword.
