Funeral doom mixed with melodic Swedish-style black metal and some heavy metal elements, Ornamientos del Miedo might have a subtler influence in electronic music with this two-song EP of layers built around the same melodic progression, with breaks for counterpoint riffs before resuming momentum.
Like many in the funeral doom genre, this band starts with glacial and basic chord progressions, then layers on them additional variations on the rhythm, melody, and phrase of the basic riff, building an intensifying mood of omnipresent inertia that only intensifies when opposed.
Songs reach a ritual peak when all of these elements come into alignment and then sort of trail off, maintaining an atmosphere through fleshing out the depth within it, all while guttural vocals roar like banished demons in the space beyond atmosphere for a mood of oppressive, melancholic hopelessness.
