Condemner pursues more of an explicit war metal sound that merges Havohej with touches of Demoncy and Beherit along with ancient death metal like Mythic and modern war metal like Kaeck. It grinds, it establishes a primal and intolerant logicality, and then it expands into mystical texture.

Their ’18 debut was as bad as Trenchant’s .
War metal is not black metal; black metal is about a mood that transports people from materialistic Nietzschean alienation to naturalistic transcendentalism. It is closest to Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, and other “cosmic” bands in this way. War metal aims to produce an unrelenting mood of assault which then hints at a possibility after the dust settles and the tumor victims die.
“War” metal is a flavour rather than a distinct subgenre. Preferably, call it simply Grindcore, pretty much like power & doom are just styles of Heavy Metal. Also ( ..prickishly ), Kaeck is pure black metal, even their second, slower, grindy / doomy record.
It’s at least just an inch away from early Blood.
Is Mythic worth going back to? Thought they were more of a “has potential” kind of band.
The EP and early recordings show us something in progress; Derketa sort of took it and ran with it.
I deleted my email like I continually do when it comes to virtually possessing things, and I am still so terrible at keeping bookmarks of good material, let alone organizing it, and I don’t even keep a notebook to write jokes and ideas. I heard this several years ago and hoping that it’s developing well.
Ecstatic thrusting motion to these riffs! Love it lots!
