Mayhem/Thou Shalt Suffer/Zemial
The True Black
[]
Sometimes you don't know where some bootlegs are from. This one is supposedly a Mexican bootleg CD but I'm not
sure at all about this information. I think it was out circa 1996. The layout is very poor, a black and white booklet with a typed track list
and very low-quality photos. And in addition to this it is mentioned as a split CD between MAYHEM and
THOU SHALT SUFFER but in fact there is a 3rd band appearing on it : ZEMIAL from Greece ; there are
also many other mistakes in the track list...
MAYHEM tracks are the 1990 promo ( ? in fact the"flowers song" sung by MAYHEM mebers after drinking too
much + the "Freezing moon" and " Carnage" studio tracks with Dead on vocals featured on the "Leipzig" LP and the
CBR compilation)There's also the "necrloust" track (not mentioned on the cover)in fact taken from the "Deathcrush" demo. Finally you get
3 tracks from a 1990 rehearsal (the one on the "Out from the dark" bootleg LP) with Dead on vocals but no track list
is given for this recording ("Funeral fog", "Freezing moon", "Buried by time and dust")! All songs have a decent sound quality.
THOU SHALT SUFFER part consists in an advance MLP (never released at the time) and the "Open the
mysteries of your creation" EP (the second track is titled here "spectral propmecy" whereas it shoud be
"spectral prophecy" !). The MLP advance tracks have a low sound but they are listenable, and the EP songs
have been recorded from the vinyl itself, you can clearly hear that on the recording but at least the sound
is very good.
ZEMIAL's 3 songs on this recording are the "Sleeping under tartarus" EP, which is an excellent recording (even if
the sound that is offered here is not the best you can imagine...), pure Hellenic Black Metal with that special
touch that only bands from this country have (NECROMANTIA, AGATUS, VARATHRON, ROTTING CHRIST, LEGION OF DOOM...)
Well, my advise would be to buy this CD only if you are a collector maniac because all the recordings of these
bands are now available on several other bootleg or official releases with greater interest. Anyway,
it is a very rare CD so you may have some difficulties to get it for a decent price so think about this review
before you spend many dollars in order to obtain this bootleg...
