Absolutely great bm from "down under" with a predominant emphasis on generic thrash cycling charecteristic of eighties monoliths. Spear Of Longinus, despite their openly National Socialist views, really seem most similar to the American band Absu. They both have an intimate relation with the early thrash metal scene of the eighties, while at the same time maintaing a somewhat egalitarian viewpoint on their subject matter. In the Nazi Occult Metal demo one can really trace influence to all sorts of different areas (Hail Set! Hail Thoth!), spanning the abyss from NS to ancient egyptology to mesopatamian mythos and even further down the line to primordial Buddhist writting (Baghavad- Gita) and meditation.

The best part of the demo, and the area that had me very confused at first, is the backround layering of speech sampling. There are actually two vocal tracks being executed simultaneously, one in the rasps, and the other in a violent shouting manner (speech), and together they produce a very strange, yet effective styling that really seems to draw ones attention.

Nearing the end of the album there is a very strategically placed and tastefully executed speech sampling of one of the upper officials in the Nazi party. This seems to be from early in the Third Reich as it is addressed at a large crowd of Germans, and is promoting Adolf Hitler as the Reichsfurer. As the music fades into obscurity, out of the noise rises a lone voice calling the people of Germany to assemble and under the banner of the Swastica rise to glory. The mob cries out in reverie, and all is chaos as they salut the new Furer.

Great thrash occult NSBM from Australia. S.O.L are a very solid, unique, and ultimately respectable band that is true to their ideals and avenues of belief. Give them support!!
