Decieverion
Decieverion
[Regimental/Hellflame]
The stark ruins of the cathedral still smoulder, intermingling with the grey mists and stench of decay. The scene is surreal, serene, as if viewed through a cracked mirror, a worn and threadbare tapestry. Such is the work of Decieverion on this, their first full length release. A full, warm production works perfectly with the band's sound, this not your typical grim and thin attempt at norwegian cloning. The riffs are structured and complex, but not so chaotic or frilly as to be unlistenable. The guitars sound do not sound like tinny little razors, but as full blown expressions of misanthropic hatred, massive broadswords crushing through the insufficient armour of the angelic hosts, cleaving meat. metal and bone with little discernment. Close your eyes, and and you can hear the drums tolling the doom of the gods, grinding the unholy legions onward to new conquests of blasphemy and obliteration of the flock. Five tracks of black metal of the highest order are included, as well as a extremely worthy cover
of Celtic Frost's Dethroned Emperor. One of the most noticable things on this release is the craftmanship that went into forging this work. The musicianship is well above average, and amazingly for a black metal album, the heaviness is unparalleled. The bass guitars are very present in the mix, something I wish more bands would take pride in, instead of considering it an afterthought. With a great mix of slow dirging melodies to fast blasting sections perfectly placed to accentuate the brutality and force displayed in the vocals, Decieverion are elite amongst their peers. From out of the smoking desolations of Pennsylvania have come Decieverion, emerging from out of the mists of nowhere to put forth one of the best releases in a long while, with heaviness not often seen, and laying waste to the thin, untalented, half-assed shit that consists most of nowadays black metal.
