Grand Belial's Key
Judeobeast Assassination
[Drakkar]
Aaargggh! Fuck! "Hounds of misery and infectious wounds / Crippled pig
fixed by a slew of silver spikes / Web of misfortune and deceit / Lord of
the nomadic human pork"! And this is not helped by the fact that these
people come from the land of ZOG, look like typical american mutants, and
that their names are Black Lourde of Crucifixion, Gelal Necrosodomy and
Demonic.
GBK is the only band on our godgivenbluegreen earth that can pull this
premise off. i mean -- fuck! -- the whole album is so coherent and the
songs are so tight that all these things that first make you want to forget
the CD exists, transcend zen-like beyond and then you SEE.
They've basically continued the exact same path they started with from
their excellent demos. The feel and approach certainly haven't changed,
though one wouldn't mistake these songs for the older ones, either. Mostly
i think it's about the sound, which has more range now, and the vocals are
rougher some.
The music is strong and without obvious tricks, yet there is some
significant range in the style: from some definite heavy metal-parts and
even guitar solo in the end of the first song, to a Darkthrone-sounding
riff on the second verse of the next one. And this i say only to describe
the music, i don't think this kind of breakdown really does justice to the
music, and i certainly don't suppose they think about these things whilst
making the songs. This is just much more elaborate than one would think at
first.
The whole thing is way more powerful than it ought to be, suggesting that
some otherworldly astral-occult being has actually possessed these poor
mutants and is manifesting something fatal through them.
