ABYSSIC HATE is made of one man, Shane Rout, and comes from Australia. It was created around 1993/94 and released various demo tapes, a split (M)CD with DET HEDENSKE FOLK in 1997 (on this MCD is featured the '94 demo "Cleansing of an ancient race" of ABYSSIC HATE), and a MCD limited to 500 copies, out on Darker Than Black in 1998. So this is the 3rd "CD release" by this band. The style played here is a kind of imitation of BURZUM's "Filosofem" without keyboards, but unfortunately SR is not as inspired as Varg Vikernes, and not as inspired as on his first two MCDs... The songs become quickly boring and it seems the guy wanted to create a kind of "depressive" sound on this album, but he failed and after 5 minutes you are tired of hearing something that looks like always the same riff. I was mainly disappointed by the song "Betrayed", which already existed on a previous promo tape with a great production, it was then a very good black metal song but here it sounds "weak" and not as "depressive" as on this promo. I think the songs here could be much more interesting with a different mix, maybe should he use the same production as on the killer "Eternal damnation" MCD, which is in my sense a lot better than this CD...
