Mutiilation/Deathspell Omega

[End All Life]

The French black metal cults Mütiilation and Deathspell Omega team up here on vinyl. The Mütiilation side presents one track of hate, "Beyond the Decay of Time and Flies". Following the path of disgust against life of French black metal, this is not a nice song, nor would you expect one. With a soundscape reminiscent to an electric razor machine, we are treated to the vision of a mind collapsing into itself under the pressure of realizing its own death. The blasphemous lifestyle of this decadent underground has driven the scene into an obscenity of glue-sniffing absence of spirituality that will bring the lowest level of punk rock mentality into the fortress of metal: if you choose life, you are not true. Deathspell Omega on their side has two tracks, "Insanity Supreme" and "Fire and Void Become One". Surprisingly, this side does not assault us with an orgy of blood - it is a contemplation of black metal, not an act of it. Given the legacy of the true Norwegian black metal and the knowledge of the failing dynamics of a scene devoted to cultural terrorism while being composed of the slave-minds of a falling civilization, it tries to concoct a spell of alchemy from a post-Hirilorn progression into grim, less heavy-metal oriented black metal songwriting. To give you an idea of what the songs on this vinyl actually sound like, I can mention the Mütiilation song being a long, extended journey of simplistic black metal riffs accompanied by a wretched program of drums and diseased vocals. Deathspell Omega sounds like post-"Total Death" Darkthrone filtered through the scene that hates the weakness of those old masters now.
