Det Hedenske Folk/Abyssic Hate
United By Heathen Blood
[Bloodless creations]
Here we're presented with 2 bands who play monotone
"blast beat" black metal, although with 2 (slightly)
different styles. This isn't a good thing, however,
as this album gets ridiculously boring in a hurry.
DHF features session drums by Abbath of IMMORTAL, and
the band is in a similar vein, which isn't the style
of black metal I like. It's much better than AH,
however. Presenting their "Cleansing Of..." demo,
this AH material is probably the biggest BESTIAL
WARLUST rip-off I've ever listened to (the only
difference is higher-pitched vocals)!! In fact, a
trader could've sent this to me labeled as a BW
rehearsal and I would've believed it! I've read that
the AH mastermind was the original drummer of BLOOD
DUSTER, which would explain the grindcore influence.
It's odd that I've seen a few people compare this to
DARK THRONE, considering it's so unsimilar that one
might as well call Euronymous-era MAYHEM a clone of
The Beatles! These days, it seems this is one of
those "cult" items because it's so
rare/limited/whatever (I've seen the original pressing
of this sell for $50 or more on EBay several
times). I have no idea why, since it's a complete
waste of time and space in the scene...
