Nocturnal Worshipper
The Return Of The Southern Tyrants
[Demise]
Why Brazil's metal scene is much less well-known than other nations' scenes is a shame, but easily understandable . Like other lesser-known scenes (Czech Republic's BM scene, for example), they crank up intensity of more known forms of music so far that most pussies just can't handle it. Take this example: give a chick a microphone in a Scandinavian 'metal' band and you end up with pussy shit like Nightwish. Give a chick a microphone in a Brazilian metal band and you come out with an unholy old-school-worshipping beast of a band like Nocturnal Worshipper, with vocals that could teach most testicle-owning vocalists a thing or two about having a voice with balls.
Despite having only five songs plus intro and outro, the album's length is well over thirty minutes (35, I think), so you can guess how the song lengths and structures work out. These are multi-faceted songs that shift section, mood and feel quite often. Darkthrone/Mayhem like fast-picked angular black metal riffs churn and blast, but then the band will shift to old-school sections that sound straight out of the glory days of thrash/speed metal of the early '80s. There are even many quite capable solos here and there. Like most of the best black metal, it's metal first, then 'black metal'. Recommended for the old-school black metal freaks and fans of that metal-musical insanity that only the Brazilians can provide.
