Abigor
Channeling The Quintessence Of Satan
[Napalm]

What greatly annoys me about this album is that it only contains about a third (or fourth) of the lyrics from each song. But it does not much matter. It is obvious what the lyrics are all about, anyway: the war of Hell...charging straight toward the enemy at full speed; Satan's power in the sword and His intent in heart. That is what the name is about.

Such, too, is the music of the album. Almost monotonous, but not. The seeming monotony has been created by setting the rhythm guitars on the foreground most of the time, and the intricately played solo-guitar on the background. So without analysing the structure of the music, you probably would not even notice it consciously. The result is an amazing cacophony of furious sound. Some ambience synths have been used, but only on the breaks, not on the foreground. Thurisaz' vocals are slightly too monotonous for my taste on this album, but not to the point of ruining it, to say the least. The song structure is such that you must concentrate on the music to keep pace.

The lyrics (what is given to us anyway) are powerful, clearly written by someone possessed by Him. The booklet is bare but completely essential.

"thrones and dominions mean nothing to me / as long as i seek the truth / thus i break man and ice / on my journey towards beyond"
