Metal Church
Metal Church
[Elektra]
Metalheads of the world gather round the circle of
history and remember Metal Church. Seattle, the home
of much of the pure dung music coming out nowadays,
was first home to Metal Church. Though Metal Church
was short lived, they managed to release a timeless
classic.
Coming from the school of raw vocals, David Wayne
compliments the twin guitars with unequaled
proficiency. Only in the band Accept does such a raw
shrieking vocal approach work so well. “Beyond The
Black” begins the album with a great chunky riff,
which builds up from the start and keeps the listener
on the edge of their chair. The title track kicks off
next, again with a great build up and supreme twin
guitar solo. “Merciless Onslaught”, the instrumental,
keeps the perfect mood going on this album. “Gods of
Wrath” shows a great epic approach from the band, and
just when the listener doubts the greatness of the
second half of the album, “Hitman” sets the stage for
a second half ass kicking. “In The Blood”, “Nightmare”
and “Battalions” finish the last half in perfect form.
“Highway Star”, a Deep Purple cover is the albums
closer, and the only track I’m not really found of.
Metal Church is yet another Metal must have, so pick
up your copy today and sit back for a lesson in Metal
history.
