Evil / Moonblood
Fuck Peace...We're At War
[South 19]
With all the hype I have heard about Moonblood, and their various outputs, I
must admit that this release did not do as much as I expected it to. None
the less, Moonblood is a SICK band, and their half of the album clearly
leaves a lasting impression in my mind, especially that first song.
Starting out with a somewhat VoiVodish riff, Moonblood continuously builds
up from a melodic foundation of repetative noise and raspy vocals,
developing an extremely recognizable and catchy structure of sound. The
following songs are still good, yet obviously not in the same league as the
first. Production on the album is Reverbed to hell, and I suppose that if
you like that sound, than this will spark your interest. I personally think
that it fits the style quite nicely, giving it an otherwise lacking
atmosphere of desolation. The EVIL side of the split, is rather bland, and
I really have no desire to explain it here. I finish this by saying that I
am indeed impressed by Moonblood, and look foreward to hearing more
material. In fact, I hear they have done a split with Deathspell Omega, and
if anyone has an extra copy available, please contact me. Also, I am unsure
as to if this is simply another release, or the bands' actual demo
material... I apologize for the mixup
