This is vicious and raw black metal that reminds a little of Darkthrone at their fiercest and least atmospheric moments. I guess the rawness of it creates an atmosphere, but the riffs aren't the repeated, drone style of Darkthrone/Burzum - Ravening's riffs are kinda thrashy. The vocals are a forceful and intense black rasp. The recording is raw but all instruments can be discerned. On the 3rd song the production changes a little to sound a little more "gated" or stifled, but this does not effect the music. Another fine Finnish release of thrashy, raw black metal .. even though it is a little short.
