Bazzah
Death Is All I See...
[Nebiula]
The black metal scene of Malaysia is surly one of the most developped of the
asiatic Pacifique with Singapour's. But, like in the majority of the countries
otheside Scandinavia, the Malaysia's scene is praticly unknow ; the only band
who have really out of Malaysia is the death metal band Sil Khannaz. Others good
black metal band that come from Malaysia like Nebiras, Langsuir and Bazzah are
yet very obscur for occidental black metal fan. Bazzah is surly the best one of
this Malaysia's band.
It's a little bite hard to define the Bazzah's music ; it isn't a simple
imitation of the scandinavian's scene like the majority of the nowaday bands.
But Bazzah surly have some influences on the old Beherit. The music, without be
brutal is agressive. A kind of war spirit is emit by the music, but it isn't the
spirit of a warrior who go to war, or of a warrior who feast after his victory
like in the majority of the war metal band ; it's mostly the spirit of the
warrior who, after the battle, lies on the desolated land. By the way, the
pocket show the picture of the remains of a city with some soldiers' corpses,
and a tank that grind them (the picture look mostly like a grind metal band
cover, but that well shown the spirit of Bazzah I think).
The most strange thing in the Bazzah's music is a vocal, always on back who
scream in same time than the principale black vocal. The back vocal let me
always think, not at an asiasitique, but mostly at a greek soldier who scream
before a melee during the Peloponnese war. For the music itself, it's well done
and well structured. The musiciens arn't little childrens that records just for
the fun of recording something : they are visibly talented, else if the music
isn't really technical.
The band, don't use of traditionnal metal line-up (2 guitars, 1 drum, 1 vocal, 1
bass), they also use a second bass that give to the music a more loud sound. In
general, the music sound a little bite like old Beherit (in the time of "Drawing
Down The Moon"), with a structure ala Immortal (in the time of "Battle In The
North", but least brutal, and more agressive), and some element of war metal
(ala Bestial Warlust). But don't misunderstand me, Bazzah isn't a second
Beherit, nor than a second Immortal, neither than a second Bestial Warlust ;
they only have some element in common, and have there unique sound.
In conclusion, I think that Bazzah is a very good band, and I recommend it to
anyone who like agressive black metal, or to people that like old Beherit, and
finaly, to anyone that are tired of the thousand of bad copy of scandinavian's
black metal.
