Ahh, yes.. graveland.. agree or disagree with their
politics no one can deny how important they've
been in the polish scene, and black metal in general..
Unfortunately this band decided to go into
complete bathory worship on later discs (and they do
it GREAT, don't get me wrong.. I just love
this style a lot more).. These guys are masters of the
dark art we call black metal.. and no one
should be without their cd's
Vox - The vocals here are in the polish style (of course, this was originated by Graveland, so it is expected) the low, blackened rasp.. sometimes going into a fucking insane black shriek.. at times Rob sounds like he is singing with a thousand swords rammed through his vocals.. sick stuff Very good 6.5/10
Guitars - The guitars here are mostly all trebelized attacks on your ears, made to completely skull fuck you into a mad man ready for the annihalition of all "god's" creatures... very good, although a bit too underproduced 8/10
Bass - As with most black metal, the bass is hardly ever heard (this really upsets me), to be honest, I do not remember ever hearing the bass once on this album... which totally sucks.. No bass 0/10
Drums - I do not see why everyone complains about the drumming on Graveland cds.. yes, it is off, yes, it is not technical, and yes he does worship his high-hat a little too much... but it fits the music perfectly, carrying that mid-slow pace on its shoulders and bringing for misanthropic violence in its blasts... Very chaotic stuff... Very good 8/10
Synths - The synths here are pushed to the front of the mixed.. They aren't used like dimmu gayness, but rather used to actually ADD to the atmosphere.. bringing forth a triumphant feel.. making you know that darkness shall soon provail!!! Very Good 8/10
Overall - Overall this is a disc of pure darkness, coldness, and evil put forth in that oh, so familiar polish style (originated by these guys).. Pure masters of black metal, and a no less than legendary band.. if you do not own graveland cd's already, you should have your innards torn from you and fed to you before you die... Masterful 9/10
