Midvinter, much like Mayhem or Dissection, is a band enshrouded in mystery. Although time and again being plauged with pestering setbacks, they have proved able enough to rise above the world, and record music nonetheless. Composed of three members, Bjorn, ( replaced by Kheeroth of Setherial) Vox, Damien ( De Infernali, Fogbound ), and Krille ( replaced by Zathenal of Setherial, Sorhin, Blackwinds, Blot Mine, etc ). Midvinter churns out simple, well executed " Swedish" black metal with the slightest hint of Norwegian influence. Midvinternatt, the first and only released demo, is a testament to the genius behind the band, namely Damien, who's ability to write, play, and record music surpases most others today. I believe one important feature of this demo however, are the contributions made by the band members who for one reason or another, are no longer part of the scene. Firstly, the excellent vocalls, contributed by Bjorn, will not be heard again because of the fact that shortly after the tapes recording, he was laid down in a mental institution. Secondly, drummer Krille will no longer be a part of Midvinter for the reason of him having three ribs broken by Daimen in a fight. Nonetheless, the material on the tape is brilliant, containing two " short and simple" songs, one being thier best track to date... " De Vices Hymn," in its rawest form yet.
