Judas Iscariot
Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten
[]

a notable release from this underground favorite serves up 5 songs of new and reworked bleak and droning melodic black metal. as if a tribute to the style itself, this EP brings out the characteristics that made black metal strong with a tangible uncertainty in delivery and morose atmosphere. the dynamics which regulated the Norse era of black metal are not present, but what is are resonant riffs evocative of nothingness and a longing for epic direction in a pointless existence. bullet-precise drumming solidifies songs under howling throat fallen like the summer song of circadas at full volume. it is easy to prefer this release over the recent flood of bands trying this style yet it stands on its own for powerful and direct composition.
