Insights Of The Profane
[Ma Kahru]
How often do you pick up a label sampler, only to be mesmerized by one or two tracks, yet thoroughly disappointed in the rest?
Not the case here! This unholy compilation of mainly underground Black Metal / Black Ambient bands is solid from start to finish. The most notable feature is the perfectly interwoven mix of the ambient tracks between each Black Metal track - a seamless mix like unto the mist drifting between the trees of a primordial forest...
Probably the most well done presentation of dark, satanic atmosphere you're likely to hear.
From the haunting toture chamber soundtrack of bands like Baal & Murderous Vision, to the infernal wrath of the punishing Azaghal, this one had me frozen, immobolized and entirely in submission!
A mighty "Hails!" to Texas Black Metal elite Mymidion - the most brutal track on the CD by far ( coming from Goatwar's staunchest supporter, that speaks volumes!). Their trakc, "Blasphemous Torture" could well have been chosen as the title track, so well befitting a description of the CD as a whole.
Second only, to my ears, to Goatwar's "Agony of Human Suffering". More raw, primal Black Metal you will not ever, I mean, ever hear! The now-defunct Canadian underground band is the very definition of the word "true".
I particularly enjoyed the contribution of Ontario Blue's "A Sea of Dust" - having long appreciated the melancholic artistry of Endura, this side - project is a worthy addition to this elite collection of infernal diatribe.
Surprisingly enough, far all the raw, unerground acts involved, overall the production is first - rate, with impeccable sound and quality. An istant collector's item, to be sure!
Without composing a long-winded essay on the aural artistry enclosed, I leave with one final sentiment - get this CD! You honestly have to listen to the entire thing, over & over ad infinitum....
One almost longs for Insights II....
Well done, Ma Kahru!
Hails!
