Arkhon Infaustus
In Sperma Infernum
[Mordgrimm]
Starting with an incantation "Invoking the War God", this black metal fest
of lust is a fine example of the underground spirit of black metal. The
music of this ep isn't terribly groundbreaking, and at times the songs have
a slight hardcore feel. Not that the band should be wearing jogging suits
and basketball jerseys instead of their bloody leather and S&M fetish gear
(no, not Methallica sthirts, you thilly billy), but the simple geometric
chord progressions do infest 25% of the album. The band is nevertheless
firmly rooted in the black metal genre. No keyboards, no unnecessary female
vocals . . hell, is there even a bass guitar in there?? There must be, one
of the two dudes is credited with playing it. The lyrics are satanic and
nihilistic, sometimes bordering on parody, but still interesting. In other
words, these kids don't give a crap and while there is nothing
groundbreaking here, I appreciate their autonomous attitude.
