Bulldozer
Greetings from Poland
[bootleg]

It was a cold winter’s afternoon in Curitiba (south of Brazil) and I was really surprised about finding this cd in a cd store with many black metal titles. Same time I saw it I didn’t think twice about buying the cd. This happened because I associated it with the album “Alive in Poland”, which some sites and chats consider really difficult to find.

Well, you may believe that I’ve got no regrets about it, because this is a fucking-good cd and it makes you feel really good, featuring an underground band that once was very big and world-wide famous. This comment is being made in a very convenient moment, once recently the Soundcave/Avantgarde reintroduced on the market, in cd format, the four studio albums from this “cult” Italian band, with an excellent production and remasterization. However, “Greetings from Poland” seems to be a pirate version of “Alive…”, because its production, in spite of being good, is a little bit different from the studio albums reintroduced. From what I saw in the net sites the tracks are the same, but this version comes with bonus tracks from the album “IX”.

The informations that I have is that “Alive…” was recorded in 1990 and was the last heavy metal manifestation from Bulldozer. It was recorded after “Neurodeliri” (1988), album which the band tended to play the modern thrash metal, but with the detail of using keyboards. In this album isn’t different, the show beginning with the crowd waiting for the band entrance and when it starts to play the keyboards from the “Neurodeliri” overture, which is followed by “IX”, the crowd goes crazy.

The album sometimes excites, when you hear the crowd yelling “Bulldozer, Bulldozer” you feel how respected they were there. The AC education is something impressing when he apologizes about not speaking polish (“It’s very difficult for me”). In the set they play a Motorhead powerful cover (Overkill) and their own music are from the album “IX” and “Neurodeliri” (please note: the track “Desert!” is on the cd cover but not recorded on it). There are no songs from the older albums.

The weak point of the band when playing live is the emptiness that you hear on the guitar solos, but it is fulfilled by the drums and the energetic riffs. The show ends with “Willful Death”, making sure that the crowd really enjoyed the night and that they really missed the band in that country. By the way, the whole world miss them I am sure… It is not late for you to recognize the (great) value of these guys, who unfortunately, are not so famous today. If you find one of these cd’s someday, get it, specially if you like Europe’s “old school”. If you were always Bulldozer’s fan and never got the “Alive…”, don’t suspect this version but congratulate who released it! Thank you guys!
