Keep of Kalessin
Agnen - A Journey Through The Dark
[]
Being fairly impressed with this band's debut CD "Through Times of War",
when I heard there was a new CD out I immediately checked up some review
sites to see if this was in the same vein. Most of these (completely
useless) people said that this was "thrash" metal, as opposed to the
sick, evil, hauntingly melodic Black Metal displayed on the debut. So, I
put off buying this CD until a week ago. Luckily, all of the reviewer's
have their heads far up their asses, because this is absolutely in the
same vein as before...only faster and even darker. This is one truly
exceptional (newer) band from Norway that I actually really love. They
have this air about them that says what they are doing is not for
trend's sake, but out of real dedication to the genre. This commands
respect, IMO...and it definately shows in the writing and execution of
the music. Anyone interested in (moderately) melodic, EVIL and SICK
Black Metal should pick up both releases, as you will not be
dissapointed. If I had to compare it to anyone, I would say maybe older
Satyricon meets early 90's MayheM.
