Mutiilation are back. I'm not certain of the entire story, but after listening to the new 7", I'll proudly admit they're back.
Anyway, the title track is probably the finest Mutiilation track ever, if not one of the better black metal songs I've heard in quite some time. It starts out sounding like a horror house put to black metal, and quickly gets more and more intense as the (higher pitched then usual) vocals spit out word after word next to the blasting drums. This really sound more like the Warloghe 7" if one were to play it at 45rpm, or even the first Mutiilation 7" then what people are probably expecting...
"Glorious Evil Time" is a tad more in the traditional Mutiilation vein, with the guitars breaking off from the speed to add some rather blackened ambience. It doesn't compare to the neck breaking intensity of the title track though...
Incredible stuff regardless, and along with the Deathspell Omega LP, its raw black metal for 2000.
Limited to, and hand-numbered out of 300 copies (and probably sold out with the pre-orders).
