Voivod
Dimension Hatross
[Noise]
Some consider "Killing Technology" to be the turning
point in VOIVOD's career. But this album is when they
started getting really strange, almost too much at
times. Despite a few lame parts, I still liked this
album, but it's their last album I like that I've
heard so far (I've never heard anything after "Angel
Rat" as I type this). The vocals are almost all
clean, with only hints of the vomits on
"Rrroooaaarrr". Also gone is most of the death/thrash
styled riffs found on the first 3 VOIVOD albums that
are replaced by weird experimental heavy metal riffing
(for the most part still being quite good). The
second track "Tribal Convictions" is probably the
closest to the old VOIVOD sound this album gets,
imagine some experimenting added to "Killing
Technology" with all clean vocals (this is the album's
best track). Overall another (the last?) good VOIVOD
release, but only recommended for those who like metal
with originality and experimentation...
