Gorgon
The Jackal Pact
[Independent]
Gorgon's third and latest release is a lot more
melodic affair as compared to their first two CD's. I
think I even hear some At The Gates influence creeping
in there. This might scare off some of you die-hard
black metal fans out there, but it's actually done
well enough that I like it better than their second
CD. While Reign of Obscenity was an exercise in more
modern sounding black metal, The Jackal Pact is more
Metal than ever before. From the start you'll hear,
Iron Maiden-esque riffs, Burzum-esque vocal work,
Bathory-like "hump" beats and Destruction like drive.
It took me a while to really appreciate this CD, but
it was definitely worth the wait since it's become one
of my favorite things to play in my car (I have to
endure a dreadful 1 hr commute to work every
morning!). Buy this CD from Gorgon's address for $18
ppd.
