Gorgon
The Lady Rides A Black Horse
[Independent]
Gorgon is a band that's been around for a while now
(since 1989 I believe) without losing any momentum or
energy. They've successfully stayed in the underground
without the help of any label, releasing all of their
full length CD's on their own. The Lady Rides a Black
Horse is their first CD but one might mistake this for
their second or third outing since it sounds a lot
more mature than most debut releases. Gorgon plays
black metal as it was meant to be played: with raw
energy and the old feeling intact. Their sound can be
compared to the likes of old Samael and Blood Fire
Death era Bathory. If you like your black metal raw
and brutal than you can't go wrong with this release.
On the other hand, if you like norsecore bullshit like
Dark Funeral and Limbonic Art then you should probably
stay away, as it might be too heterosexual for your
taste. Cult release from a cult band. Get this
release for $18 ppd from the address below and don't
forget to get their other two CD's as well. Chris has
recently informed me that the demos and their
legendary 7" (from 1993) will be re-issued by a small
label in France on cassette format. Chris Chatelet,
