Death
The Sound Of Perseverance
[Nuclear Blast]
All I can say is: wow! This album is very different from Symbolic, is
actually more progressive, less catchy at first but much more fast and
aggressive I think. Chuck's vocals haven't changed that much from Symbolic,
more high pitched, but it isn't an amazing vocal progression as on the
transition between "Individual Thought Patterns" and "Symbolic". Nice guitar
work, much more technical in the rhythm department, the solos aren't that
emotional, but they sound really killer. The drums are just amazing, really
powerful, technical, fast, furious, the percussion really takes much more
protagonism in this CD (Cool intros to "Scavenger" and Painkiller"). The
most shocking thing about this record is the Judas Priest cover,
"Painkiller", in this one Chuck sings the Rob Halford way, but much more
pitched and more has a more desperate feeling in it. Really cool CD, but
less catchy than Symbolic, although with more interesting guitar parts
(which interest me the most, being a guitar player myself).
