Gorgoroth
Destroyer, Or How to Philosophize with the Hammer
[Nuclear Blast]

A convoluted mess.

There is something horribly wrong in every aspect of this album. First off, this third wave Norweigian black metal band are now on Nuclear Blast, yet they make a "raw" CD just to try and show the black metal community that they haven't gone soft. They need to learn they can't have it both ways (which is why they opted for full-on gayness in their most recent album "Incipit Satanas").

Besides that the music on this record is truly lame. Maybe two good songs on the whole thing. Besides those two this could put you to sleep. But less said about the music the better.

The packaging is awful also. It a lot like the Panzer Division Marduk packaging, but without the coherence. What's with all the scribbled journal entries instead of lyrics? Also, who plays on this album? They have like 9 different members who all play on different tracks and as far as I can tell none of them wrote any of the songs! I think they used different names when they gave the song writing credits so they couldn't be blamed for the ninth rate material.

Just when you thought this couldn't get any worse they tacked on a Darkthrone cover at the end that could very possibly be an insult, not a tribute to Darkthrone.
