The two arguments over this album seem to be between people who worship technical death metal, and those who hate it. I would be in the former category. My favorite death metal is either extremely technical, or so brutal that I don't care whether its technical or not.

However, these two groups seem to miss the simple fact that this album is painfully boring. It doesn't matter how good they play their instruments if the music makes you shift in your chair. I would call this album downright frustrating actually. I've never yawned listening to an extreme death metal album in the middle of the day before this CD! The vocals are also horrible! There are TWO vocalists who sound exactly the same!! What's the point? The 9 minute track "Clouded" is pure torture to sit through.

A lesson to those who never thought an album could be brutal and technical, but also outstandingly tedious.

The worst of the Montreal death metal bands. Don't buy this record unless technicality is all that matters to you.
