Thorns of the Carrion
Eve Songs
[Independent]
Ohio's doomsters have struck again, with their self-released LP "Eve Songs" , a follow-up to "The Scarlet Tapestry" ('97). Thorns of the Carrion's vocals are in the vein of Type O' Negatives, with death vocals added in on the harder parts of the songs. "Eve Songs" has five songs of depressive doom, "Naomis Waters", "Carmilla", "Song for Lucretia", "To Court the Dancing Wind", and "Eve of the Emerald Sun".
The lyrics are very deep, remind me a lot of Opeth's. "Song for Lucretia" is a brutally passionate song, with menacing flute parts. Production is very clear. Thorns of the Carrion incorporates tonz of different instruments into their musick, from the harp to acoustic guitar, revealing true talent, not only in musicianship but also in arrangements.
