Unholy
Trip To Depressive Autumn
[Lethal/Wild Rags]
Recorded in 1991, this 4-song EP is the last demo the band put out before
signing to Lethal Records (and later to Avantgarde) who took it upon
themselves to re-release it a year later. On their latest work
"Gracefallen," the band's present incarnation embroidered their music with a
gothic/romantic flavor using female vocals and keyboards, but still retained
its heaviness and utmost depressing qualities. The early stuff though, was
something else. No keyboards or girly singing there. Seriously heavy and
just as seriously wacked. It's really appropriate to call it art-doom
because of the band's twisted avantgarde propensity which made the music one
really tripped, all-out bizarre listening experience. Odd vocal technics,
convoluted and slow-motioned like a bad drug trip song structures, creeping
and gluey to the point of being comatose guitar sound - back then (and maybe
even now) there was nobody quite like them. Not for everyone's tastes, but
as far as I am concerned, it is just what the doctor ordered.
