Amorbital
Invidia
[Shock Wave]
The Description I got from Bloodsoaked mentioned "A combination of Dementor and Autumn Leaves". That sounds rather nifty, no? Dementor being one of the filthiest death metal bands on earth currently, and Autumn Leaves being rather proficient at coming up with catchy, melodic riffs, I picked "Invidia" up as soon as I saw it.
I'd say that's a fair description actually. The catchy guitar based melodies are here (in droves), but there's also an underlying (sick) heaviness, although the music is clearly based upon technical, and very melodic riffs. What separates it from numerous post-Maiden, melody loving Swedish bands (hey! these heathens are Slovakian!) though is the warm and heavy production, clearly heavy vocals, and occasional side steps into the world of blasting.
I can't help but want to put this CD on a bright, shining pedestal for the rest of the metal scene to discover. It's really quite excellent. The opening track, "Faustinus' Alchemy" could easily become legendary within the death metal scene for its pure catchy qualities - it sounds pissed off but is clearly in your face gloomy sounding. Dissection were always good at that too - coming up with inspiring, heavy riffs - realize that Amorbital are in the same waters, but plowing ahead on a much more brutal boat (…). The closing title track, in the same way, has such an obvious, but well used blast beat/ambient guitar bit that I can't help but WANT MORE.
