Darkthrone
A Blaze in the Northern Sky
[Peaceville]
Between their first album and this one DARKTHRONE got influenced by Euronymous
and MAYHEM, left the death metal album ”Goatlord” on hold and decided to record
the sickest and rawest black metal album ever, a fully religiously satanistic
fist in the face of the sport clothes wearing, life-affirming and humane death
metal audience. Musical inspiration here is drawn from BATHORY, HELLHAMMER,
BATHORY, CELTIC FROST and BATHORY, in that order. The lower frequencies have
been minimized in the production in order to get across the garage noisiness,
the band plays off-tempo on purpose and to maximize aggression and chaos.
Scene-professors of today argue about whether this of MAYHEM’s ”Live in Leipzig”
is the first True Norwegian Black Metal LP.
