Abigor
Opus IV
[Napalm]
After the almost commercial ”Nachthymnen”, ABIGOR are back on track with this
brutal release which seems to be a combination of two EP’s. It seems to work
that way, yes, the EP’s fit together but feel different.
The first part, ”Horns Lurk Beyond the Stars” is more straight-forward,
astral-visionary and cold, second part ”Blut aus Aeonen” is epic and more
”medieval” with some flute, the symbolism is also more biblical than in the
first part.
Everything on this CD is characterized by a speed, intensity and complexity that
was never before heard in ABIGOR and might not been heard ever since, even if
”Apokalypse” and ”Channelling the Quintessence of Satan” attempted that mood
again.
”Opus IV” is about having seen beyond the stars and come back with total cold
void inside… it’s an extremely visionary, feverish and occultic piece of metal.
Truly, I consider this a classic and to be really appreciated, this must be
stripped free from logical analysis and comparison and beheld as a tribute to
supernatural forces beyond the cognition of modern western man trapped within
his strict ”way of life”.
Listen to the emotion captured in the instrumental performance; that is
possession.
