We Are The Romans
[Hydrahead]
Amazing, nihilistic, cathartic and nail-bitingly furious metalcore all the way. Mix
up the mathematic rock of Don Caballero, complex syncopation of Meshuggah,
density and instrumentation of Cave In and the artiness of Cable, mixed in a
blender with prime Dark Angel, SOD and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Sounds not
unlike the rest of the Hydrahead roster (Jesuit, Converge, All Chrome) but has a
distinct complex technical edge lying underneath.
Lyrically, this is rather incomprehensible, of the sort of personal, emotional lyrical ground that bands
like Coalesce share that mean more to the vocalist than the listener. Overall though, this is a fucking
brilliant record that yields a whole, concentrated and diverse listening experience. Hardcore for the
metalheads.
