Thokk
Of Rape And Vampirism
[Mordgrimm]
First Evocation: (First 5 songs of the disc)
Having been fearing anything Ancient-related since seeing the cover for "Mad
Grandiose Blood Fiends", I had been avoiding this disc. Luckily, I found it
in a used bin. It quite impressed me actually. Riffing is Nordic black
metal in nature with a thrash influence. Nothing ground breaking, but it is
an enjoyable listen and several of the riff ideas are fresh. No keys, no
clean chic voices, just fast, glorious blackish metal. Production is clean
and thick. Yea, the vampire thing is old, REALLY old, but don't let the
lyrics turn you away from some of these cool riffs.
Second Evocation: (Last 4 songs)
Someone's been listening to too much electronic music. Nothing like the stuff
from the First Evocation. Dark, spooky, and . . um . . electronic noise
with black rasps and screeches over it. . Actually, kind of interesting at
first, but it gets old. I don't know electronic music, so I have no one to
compare it to. The rasps and screeches kinda sound like Mortiis' Cintecele
Diavolui project, but the music bares no resemblance.
