Thus Defiled
Wings Of The Nightstorm
[Dark Trinity]
This CD rules ALL. It has everything that a varied metal album requires: darkness, violence, hate, and some rather exceptional riffs. I wasn't the biggest fan of the band after seeing them live or hearing their first CD, but this makes up for everything. "Wings of the Nightstorm" crushes and kills in the name of evil!
The intro, done by someone from the band's side-project (Shadowlore) is nicely performed. The band, after a few listens, have become a good deal blacker than previously, when they sounded like a fast black metal band with the vocalist from Immolation at the helm. "Wings of the Nightstorm" reminds me of Handful of Hate (Ita) with blasting drums and the different vocals of Paul. They use the same formula at least, especially with the clean guitar bits.
Besides the surf riff that pops up in the middle of the first track, I enjoy every last bit of this CD. With the proper label and a slightly better production, I could see Thus Defiled making an even more impressive record.
Regardless, I'll freely admit that Thus Defiled are the best thing to come out of England since pictures of Katie Richmond bending over!!
