Mysticum
In the Streams of Inferno
[Full Moon]
Miserable packaging containing the silliest photo ever. Ha! That picture of 'Mean Malmberg' is worth the price of the disc alone. The other members look quite serious, and then there's Mr. Malmberg staring into the camera with the most absurd looking drug-induced grin, and suspenders adorned with musical instruments. Did this ever get re-released with a new cover like it was supposed to be?
Forget all of that though, the music is great. People can complain all they want about the drum machine, super raspy vocals, etc. etc., but this is still a sick release. The keyboards and drum machine really work nicely in my opinion, as they add an extra cold and lifeless feel to the music. This band once had Hellhammer behind the kit, but got rid of him because they wanted to keep that feeling!
Best songs: "The Rest" (pure apocalypse metal, great track), "Where the Raven Flies" (what the CD was originally supposed to be called, shouted vocals over the screaming ones), and "In your grave" (killer!). The best release on FMP? Probably.
[Funny side note: This is also Lord Worm's (ex-Cryptopsy) favorite black metal album.]
