Impiety
Ceremonial NecroChrist Redesecration
[Independant]
Before I get on with this review, I'd like to clear my
western friends' misconception of Singapore as a third-world country! This
is not FUCKING INDONESIA!!! And the biography of Impiety doesn't have anything
that makes up another typical Sepultura soap opera! But whatever it is,
Impiety is certainly a band that do Asia proud (besides the obvious Sigh
and Sabbat). Singapore had its fair share of underground metal heroes like
Abhorer and Nuctemeron but Impiety is the most successful of the lot. This
outfit was originally spawned under the name Sexfago (Sextrash + Sarcofago??)
but the silly-sounding one didn't get anywhere with two loose tracks recorded.
At that time, Ariffeen and company did more covers than anything else.
The transformation to "Impiety" proved to be a more successful story for
our insane desecrators. Impiety's debut promo/demo "Ceremonial Necrochrist
Redesecration" in '92 brought up quite a lot of interest to this EXOTIC
EVIL. And what a FUCKING HARSH tape this is! My ears bleed along to the
ultra lo-fi tunes that litters the stereo with its raunchy filth and you
swear the ear-scraping tunes are as sloppy as entangled wires. But the
music really KICK ASSES! Their style is more in line with black-death metal
like our local guys Libation and Abhorer do but there's BLACK energy flowing
through its veins. The vocals are more in the neo-death metal brutality;
low key and dripping with goreshitpustench.. Tracks like "Pentagramathron"
and "The Seventh Goatspawn" make you go headbang till you become one with
Satan! This is a very underground recording from one of the most notorious
black metal band (101% black metal lifestyle guaranteed as I can swear!)
and probably the most inaccessible of all their works hence this is not
recommended for newer initiates of Impiety or the general melody loving
crowds.
