Mysticum
In the Streams of Inferno
[Full Moon]

I found about Mysticum through the “Nordic metal” tribute (a very recommended album !) and decided to give them a shot , the first thing that attracted me in their music was the cold industrial sound that can really freak me out , I mean if there is an album I don’t want to hear when I’m drunk or high that’s it… well let me tell you about the music of Mysticum the first thing you should know is that they use drum machine, I know that many of you would not like this idea because a real drummer give’s the music its rawness and live feeling, well in this case it would’ve destroy the whole point of this album this is music of the dead, besides I think it sound best as it is and the person who programmed the drum machine knew what he was doing. The drums and keyboard are herd stronger than the guitar that sometimes sounds like a weird buzz in the background I think that this and the not so good production are the only disadvantages in this album but I guess it contributes to the final sound. The vocals here are the usual grim ripper only somewhat whispery and less screechy on song number 5 you can hear in a dual vocal from hell. About the song and album structure, the album contains 8 songs and last about 35 minutes, it has an intro and outro the both of those are just monotonic sounds and beats on the outro accompanied by an untuned piano… but the hell it’s a great part when the rhythmic beginning of the 1st song blasts into the intro. The songs are usually about 4 minutes or so each, and mostly very fast but of course there are those mid tempo parts accompanied by blood freezing keyboards melodies. Well in conclusion I think this is a great release by a very promising band maybe I’m so excited about this because Mysticum did something no one else has done before I think the best definition to it is industrial black metal anyway check them out.
