Sacrilege
Turn Back Trilobite
[Metal Blade]
I'm pretty sure this 1989 offering was the last release by this UK act.
This is very far removed from their early thrashy material. There are
like 7 songs, and 53 minutes of music! This is doom metal in the vein
of Trouble with an amazing thick heavy production, but the song writing
is sort of boring. Don't get me wrong, great musicianship, and Tam even
sings sort of like a mix between Ozzy and Eric Wagner (as well as a girl
might try! haha). The guitar work is pretty cool, even has a Bay Area
feel, with the doubling effects, and melodic hooks. (Reminds me of HEATHEN,
remember them?) There are fast banging parts to this album too, but this
is not essential. At times you can really love this, but this is one of
those things you play in the background. I can't say enough how classy
Damian Thompson's guitar playing, equal to that of Tony Iommi or Adrian
Smith.
Trax are- Father Time/ Silent Dark/ Soul Search/ Awaken!/ Key to Nirvana
/ Into the Sea of Tranquility (Parts 1, 2 & 3)/ Equinox.
