Demonic
The Empire of Agony
[Necropolis]
This comes of sounding by far more raw and aggressive then their demo did,
which in my book is a good thing, but not the usual path of a band after
getting a deal, but then again they are on Necropolis who mostly deals with
the rawer types of black metal. Demonic however being rawer then their demo
(I am talking about the "Når Mørket Faller" and not the "Lead Us Into
Darkness" demo they as I have been told also did... if they are not the same
I am not quite sure...) doesn't make them extremely raw, they still play
somewhat harmonic riffs, and I'd say Darkthrone has been a large influence
on this, although they play faster then Darkthrone does they have a similar
riff structure and composition. They also utilize keyboards, but as an up
side it is not to prominent in the sound, it is merely a background
instrument. All in all it is a above average album, but a bit dull and
generic, so although above average not far above average. It leaves me
feeling very little, so as a piece of black metal it has failed, as a piece
of music it can be heard without much thought required, as good as so many
others for background music, while doing something unrelated.
