Trifixion
The First and the Last Commandment
[Lethal]
I guess that since the famous rip-off label Lethal Records is out of business,
this album has become somewhat of a rarity and black metal cult.
The Trifixion in question is the Austrian one, not the Italian one. He used to
be part of the Austrian Black Metal Syndicate with Pazuzu, Golden Dawn and
others in that country’s fabulous underground metal scene half a decade ago.
Trifixion (of the Horned King) was also drumming on Summoning’s first album
”Lugburz”. Around those times, Trifixion fell into some kind of general disfavor
in the Austrian scene and generally his contributions to black metal are not
much appreciated except by the most twisted cultists.
To quote the person who first gave me this for listen, it’s ”sick black metal
with Kermit frog vocals”. What a description! It’s all true.
Trifixion plays primitive riffs structured in a weirdly stirring way,
alternating between slow parts, that painfully wade through aural torture both
by the tedious simplicity of the material and the insistence of the maniacal
vocals sometimes reminding of Accept’s Udo, and the fast parts with crust
drumming and old-school hc/rock/metal riffs blaspheming everything that is
”sophisticated” and ”artful” in metal. Well, I might call this ”art”, but in a
different context.
It’s true black metal, with songs such as ”Dreams of Burning Churches” and
”Prince Lucifer, Here I Stand”. The style and mood feels unique to me, not as
just one chunk of shit among the rest.
SHIT this is, but SHIT in the way that real metal always is. Think about your
local priest discovering a pile of it on his altar and you know how this record
would sound to him.
Sounds excellent, eh??
