God Dethroned
Bloody Blasphemy
[Metal Blade]
I heard a bit of this Dutch band's The Christhunt, which I believe is their
first album, wasn't to impressed with it back then, but I was blown away by
their "The Grand Grimoire", so when I got a chance to hear this album I was
quite thrilled. Somehow it doesn't do the same for me, I mean it's still
fast and furious death metal with a black touch, but the black touch seems a
bit more dominant then it was before, some more heavy metal type stuff too.
Also the guitars sound thin, far from as crushing and destructive as on "The
Grand Grimoire", other then that the production is almost the same. When it
comes to albums that sound aggressive, I usually go by what does it make me
feel like... does it make me want do destroy something? Smash something?
Crush something into little bits and pieces? "The Grand Grimoire" could do
that, this album can for the most part not. It is still a fine album, mostly
in the vein of "The Grand Grimoire", just not quite as angry, but still
worth a bit of attention.
