Well having been impressed a whole lot with their previous effort, I had some rather high expectations from this new effort, and the higher the expectations the greater the disappointment if it doesn't deliver. First of all it is way more blackish in the approach, and also the production is far from as filthy as it was. I miss the growls, I miss the filthy production and I miss the anger behind the music, this is just rather dull. It is more black metal like as said, but the death metal like material is more like the archetypes of newer death metal, the album also has more melodic stuff... now what the hell for? This sounds like what I could expect from Cannibal Corpse, if they were to attempt playing modern black metal, screw that, gimme "The Last Supper"!
