The Coup De Grace
The Coup de Grace
[Red Decibel]
One of those bands that just didn't have the right timing. Released
in 1990, this Ohio(?) band made little impact on the metal scene. See,
The Coup were thrashy/traditional metal. The only comparison I can make
is imagine a straight-ahead metal act like Anvil uses melodic
influences like Thin Lizzy in some songs, and then thrash like Death
Angel and Slayer in other songs. Some may find this all over the place,
but the band stays cohesive. James Mecherle's singing is melodic, in
that cool Riot/Guy Speranza way, for lack of a better comparison. If
you like old school/traditional metal , merging into thrash, I'd say
it's worth picking up. The first two songs have been in my head for
years.
Daylight Dawning/ Burning With Optimism/ Sad But True/ Bombs Away/ Me,
Myself & I/ 'Til The Bitter End/ All of the Above/ Barbed Wire/ So Be
It.
