Manes
Ned I Srillheren
[Hammerheart]
Part of the -Unveiling The Wicked- series, a number of limited edition
releases of Manes demos leading up their debut release on Hammerheart,
Ned I Srillheren contains the original versions of some great songs that
would later appear on -Under Ein Blodraud Maane-.
Ned I Srillheren begins with a dark, haunting,
ritualistic type intro, that broods forth until the start of Maanes
Natt. Maanes Natt, as well as the remainder of the songs on this release
can all be heard, despite the sound quality, as excellent musical
creations, Manes are able to create raw, grim black metal and mix it
with dark orchestrated compositions of genius, and even though the sound
quality on this album isn't the best, it does not hide that fact, even
on this, a demo release, which in itself, should speak loudly of Manes
abilities.
Each song has its' own haunting melody, sometimes using dark whispers or
haunting 'clean' vocals to create the dark atmosphere that is Manes.
Manes are one of the best black metal bands today, one of the best out
of Norway, and in time, will be considered one of the best of all time,
any offering by Manes, up to now, seems to be a rewarding one, although,
in the end, time will tell, as it has before.
The inside scenery is also quite interesting, although the front cover
is hardly recognizable, it seems to be a sky scenery from the view of
looking up through a dense woods.
