Burnt Offering
Death Decay Complete
[MDR]
Originally released in 1989, this brings memories of the crossover
scene at it's height, and depending on who you ask, was the greatest
time for concerts, or the destruction of the hardcore and metal
scenes.
Burnt Offering blend thrash and headbanging metal with mosh parts.
Violent, evil, fuck you, punch you in the face, I'm gonna kill you
motherfucker type lyrics. Hal Shore's angry vocals are snarled and
throaty, maybe like Tom Araya of he was in S.O.D. I guess the music
is a little Slayer influenced too. Thick production, but still
underground, the 5 CD bonus tracks off the "Death Decay" demo are just
as good. For me, this is a solid release, and so it's hard to pick
stand out songs, though I still really like "Kick Your Dirt",
"Leatherface", "Power Of Death", "Beware The Axe" and "Slaughterhouse
Grizzle". This sounds as good as when I had the original tape. Only
question is "did the guys spill beer on the master tapes ?" as this
was re-mastered off the vinyl.
