Ramses Bringer Of War
[Visceral]
Everyone (except me at the time of writing, argh!) knows their full length "Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka" but who knows their MCD "Ramses Bringer Of War"? This little package of brutal ithyphallic death metal starts off with "The Howling Of The Jinn", a furious piece of scorching metal... Production is dry and crisp, guitars are brutal and everything can be heard decently. Mad vocals scream in agony and growl in dire terror over insane tempo shifts and at first incoherent leads. Good!
After a menacing intro the title song simply ERUPTS into one of the most brutal riffs ever heard; WAR! The speed of the song rises and it's full of previously unheard-of breaks... Guitar leads seem to have a separate life and under a deadly pounding pummel of precise percussion Ramses screams his wrath to the world, only to be confirmed and enhanced by that wonderfully BRUTAL guitar riff.
After that the ceremonial "Die Rache Krieg Lied Der Assyriche" (don't ask me how they came up with the atrociously maimed German grammar)... Assyrian warriors hitting their shields with their spears, voices invoking the gods of war, calling forth the war-spells of the shamans (or whatever); it is not hard to use your imagination and see the warrior-dance.
After that, 10 minutes have passed and the release is finished. I want more of this!
